Water In Art
In the middle of this heartbreaking year of 2020, I managed to make it to a beach in Oregon. I had brought watercolors with me. I had never taken the time to consider how calming it is to paint water using a water based media. I would fill an area on the paper with water and then release the pigment into it. The water held together in a floating container, sitting atop the paper while also joining the paper by osmosis. I used the brush and worked with the water to guide it into an image that resembled the ocean. As I created, I let my mind wander to the sea. The light, the color, the rhythm of they day came through the artwork.
